His deployments include operations with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Force, joint operations with multiple allied nations, and humanitarian missions including the search and recovery of Korean Airliner 801 in Guam.

Dr. Tayyeb was one of the two sailors that piloted and implemented the rollout of the Fleet Marine Force Warfare Specialist device in the Navy and consequently one of the first to be awarded the FMF device and received the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for his efforts.
